Happy Sankranti

Happy Sankranti everyone. If you have never heard of it before, Sankranti is a Hindu harvest festival, celebrated in India, to mark end of the month with the winter solstice and the start of longer days. It is known with different names in different parts of the country like Lohri, Pongal, etc. The celebration includes Kite flying competition, dancing, bonfires and feasts.. During this time the skies are filled with colorful Kite’s. So I decided to decorate my nails with some freehand colorful kites. I used multiple nail polishes to create this colorful design and I am loving it how it turned out. What do you think of this design?

Tutorial: Cinco De Mayo Nails

Hi Friends, I created a step-by-step tutorial for you all for the colorful Cinco De Mayo nail art from my last post.

For this nail art you would need -
1. Nail Polishes.
2. Stripping Tape.
3. Top Coat.
4. Base Coat.
5. Scissors.
6. Dotting Tool.
7. Thin Nail Art Brush.


Step 1. To start, first paint your nails with a base coat to protect your nails.

Step 2. When the base coat is dry, on top of it paint your nails with a base polish. I used Formula X's Dainty White polish. Make sure you polish dries completely, before you attempt step 3.

Step 3. Cut the stripping tape using scissors into multiple stripes and stick them on the nail as shown in the picture below. Make sure they are sticking to the nail and are not loose.

Step 4. Color the red and green blocks as shown below. I used Dior's Rouge for Red and Revlon's Emerald City for Green.

Step 5. Now slowly remove the tape around green and red blocks.

Step 6. In between the remaining tape block, create red chevron or zig-zag pattern using a thing nail art brush.

Step 7. Fill red on one side of chevron and on the top of the nail add yellow nail polish. I used Zoya's Darcy for yellow.

Step 8. Remove all the remaining tape.

Step 9. Add green dots near the chevron design as shown below.

Step 10. Seal the design with your favorite top coat. I used Formula X's top coat.

Cinco De Mayo

Happy Cinco De Mayo friends. Today on the occasion of this festive day I decided to create some Mexican Design inspired nails. Hope you all will like it. Polishes used are - Formula X's Dainty, Revlon's Emerald City, Dior's Rouge and Zoya's Darcy.

St Patrick's Day 2016

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Hope you are wearing GREEN today. I am, on my nails ;) This is my St. Patty's nail art this year which I did free hand using nail art brush. Polishes used are OPI's Non-Stop White and Jade is the new Black, Sinfulcolor's Innocent and Revlon's Golden. See a similar Valentines Day nail art HERE :)

Easter Eggs

Happy Easter Sunday Everyone. Sharing my first ever Easter nail art with you all. This Eggs didn't come out as I wanted them to be but that's okay since it was my first try. Hope you all have a great time.

St. Patrick's Day 2015

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Today on the occasion of St. Patrick's Day, I am sharing my St. Patrick's day, green nail art with you all. I used different green shades to create this nail art, Revlon's Emerald City, Butter London's Jaded Jack and OPI's Skip the gift Wrap.

For this look, I started first by painting my nails with base white color. I used OPI's My Boyfriend Scales the Walls. Then using a sponge I dabbed some light green polish (Butter London's Jaded Jack) to the tips of my nails. Then using a very thin nail art brush, I painted vines and shamrock leaves. How do you like the outcome? St. Patrick's Day worthy?

Kites

Happy Sankranti everyone. What is Sankranti you ask? Sankranti is a Hindu harvest festival to mark the arrival of Spring in India. It is known with different names in different parts of the country and a part of celebration includes Kite flying competition. During this time the skies are filled with colorful Kite’s. I love these colorful Kites in the Sky so much that I decided to recreate this on my nails.

I have created these Kites free-hand and used a multiple polishes to create this nailart.

Festival Nailart: Karva Chauth 2014

Hello Friends, sharing today an old nail art from my archives. Today is the festival of Karva Chauth in India and on this day, married women fast all day for their husband's long life and prosperity. The fast is started in the morning, before sunrise and broken only when women spot moon in the sky, at night. I wore this nail art back in 2012 for the same festival, hence you see all the henna and Indian jewelry in the picture. I really liked how I had paired different bangles from my collection that day to match my outfit and couldn't resist sharing a picture of them as well. The polishes used here are Sally Hansen's Blue Me Away, Maybelline's Onyx Rush and Sinfulcolor's Snow Me White. Hope you all like is nail art from my archives.

Festival Nailart: St. Patrick's Day 2014

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Today on the occasion of St. Patrick's Day, I am sharing my Shamrock green nail art with you all.

I started this nail art by painting my nails in the base color of OPI's Jade Is The New Black. Once it was dry I placed stripping tape in the pattern of the green lines you see in the nail art. On top of that I painted with OPI's My Boyfriend Scales The Walls and immediately took out the stripping tape leaving the pattern of green lines. Once the white polish was dry using a dotting tool I added the Shamrock as the four leaves using again OPI's Jade Is The New Black and sealed it with my favorite top coat. That's it.

This nail art is perfect for St. Patrick's Day and I love how the Shamrock's turned out.

Festival Nailart: Happy Holi 2014

Happy Holi everyone !!! Today as in India we celebrate the festival of colors, I share with you all my nail art inspired by this festival.

Holi is a festival which is celebrated in spring every year. Holi celebrations start with a Holika bonfire on the night before Holi where people gather, sing and dance. The next morning is a carnival of colors where people chase each other with colors in their hands and color each other with dry powder and colored water. There are some water balloon fights involved as well. People usually wear white on this day but by late morning, everyone looks like a canvas of colors.

My nail art depicts the same. It shows the splash of colors on white, the accent finger shows pichkari(water gun used for Holi) with color splashing out of it.
