Chinese New Year

It's Chinese New Year today and every year I think of creating Chinese nail art for this occasion but either I forget or don't have enough time on my hands. But this year I was determined to create a Chinese themed nail art for this occasion.

Those of you don't know Chinese New Year is based on Lunar calendar and is also known as the "Spring Festival" in mainland China. The Chinese Zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao, is based on a twelve-year cycle and each year in that cycle is related to an animal sign. Year 2017 is the year of a rooster. Red symbolizes good fortune and joy in Chinese culture and it is found everywhere during the Chinese New Year combined with shades of Gold, so I created this red and gold nail art for this occasion. In case you are wondering what that sign means on my little finger, it is the symbol of Luck in Chinese.

In Chinese culture, the red lantern is the symbol of booming life and prosperous business, so they are always hung on important festivals such as Lantern Festival and Chinese New Year. Hence I created the lantern on my middle finger, hanging from a blooming tree. Hope you all enjoyed all these fun facts surrounding Chinese culture and New Year, and will love this nail art as much as I do.

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone.
